CHILDREN FAITH FORMATION PROGRAM

Faith formation is an ongoing process at the School of Jesus in His Holy church. Christ mandated His Church in Matthew 28:18-29 to evangelize (“make disciples of all nations“) and to catechize (“teaching them to observe all I commanded you”). All the avenues the Church employs to do this – Children Faith Formation, Vacation Bible School, Youth Ministry, RCIA, Bible Study Sessions, Retreats and Seminars, Lighthouse Media and more – are all avenues of Lifelong Faith Formation.

However, while some are required for basic formation and for the celebration of the Sacraments of life, others are recommended or encourages for greater ongoing formation and personal development. There is no graduation. We continue to learn, grow and mature in the faith until we depart from this life. The Mystery of God, the Word of God or the Mystery of our Life in Christ, is inexhaustible.

In fact, Christ portrays this reality as drinking from the fountain of living waters, Spiritual River or Ocean of the Holy Spirit: “If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, 'Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water'" (John 7:37-38).  No one can exhaust an ocean no matter how much you drink from it (cf. Ezekiel 47:1-9, 12).

According to the National Directory for Catechesis, “Catechesis leads people to enter the mystery of Christ, to encounter him, and to discover themselves and the meaning of their lives in him” (The National Directory for Catechesis, 19B).

Our Children Faith Formation Program:

Our Faith Formation program is designed in a way that your child can come to catechesis once they are 7 year of age or older, or in grade 2nd and up. Faith is a journey that starts at Baptism and ends when we meet Christ in heaven.  Unfortunately because our lock of space, we are only preparing the children for the celebration of their sacraments, hopefully in the future once we have classroom, we can encourage parents to bring their children for catechesis even if they have celebrated their Sacraments, and continue their Faith Formation.

For those baptized as infants, these children celebrate their First Holy Eucharist (Communion) in our parish once they reach 2nd grade. (7 years or older).

For those baptized as infants and who have celebrated their First Eucharist (Communion), they celebrate their Confirmation in our parish once they reach 8th grade. (13 years or older).

Faith Formation starts on Wednesday, September 11, 2024

5:30 to 6:30 PM for the children preparing to celebrate their First Eucharist (First Communion).

7:00 to 8:30 PM for the teenagers preparing to celebrate Confirmation
